Unit software
The update file contains the complete software for all Series 6 products. The latest software can be obtained from your country representative (www.hb-therm.com) or you can download it directly from this page. If a Interface Server Gate-6 is available in the network network, an update can be carried out directly via the e-cockpit app to the Gate-6 and the Thermo-6 temperature control units connected to it. Information on how to update the software can be found here.

- Pt 100 external sensor with 3-wire circuit
- The 3-wire circuit can be set using a parameter that compensates for the line resistances more precisely. The parameter can be found under [Setting] > [External Sensor] > [Pt 100 conductor circuit].
- Temperature difference monitoring External sensor (with additional ZE equipment)
- A new limit value parameter can be set under [Monitoring] > [Temperature] > [External/Main line difference].
- Quality test - value inputs
- If incorrect values are accidentally entered outside the Tolerance, the quality test does not stop immediately. Instead, a warning message appears, which offers the operator the opportunity to correct it.
- Exporting data - destination folder selection
- When exporting data (analysis, parameter, operating data,...), the target folder can be selected or created anew.
- Pressure-dependent refill volume calculation for leakage monitoring
- Switching from a fixed quantity per second to a pressure-dependent quantity calculation. This prevents premature triggering by leakage monitoring.
- Trend graphics extension
- The temperature of the external sensor is now also shown in the trend graph.
- Display of IP address and OPC UA port
- The current IP address and OPC UA port are also displayed in the information system.

- Warning message in the event of a setpoint temperature deviation
- So far, no warning message has been issued in the event of temperature deviations if the setpoint temperature has not been reached (e.g. In the event of an accident without reaching the tolerance band) and the [startup-alarmsuppression] parameter is set to “complete”. - During a refill, the cooling capacity is limited to ensure the water supply and to keep the system pressure stable. This adjustment only applies to the E2 cooler type.
- User logbook entries for timer activity
- Entry in the user logbook when the unit is switched on and off automatically by the Timer.
- Suppress flow rate error messages during safety cooling or aftercooling
- Error messages E050 (flow rate zero) and E051 (flow rate not valid) are suppressed during safety cooling or aftercooling. The reason for this is that, for example, valves in the external heat transfer circuit are closed during a safety cut-out.
- Measurement tolerances during quality test
- Implementation of adjustable measurement tolerances for quality test.

- Pump status monitor
- An incorrect pump tolerance is used to calculate Pump status monitor. Compared to Thermo-5 units, the maintenance message is issued later. After a software-update, it is therefore possible for the maintenance message to be issued immediately.
- Change of the number plate of the Flow-5 flow meter
- After changing the number plate of the Flow-5 flow meter (e.g. From A 1.. 4 to B 1.. 4), the identification in the menu level Actual Flow-5 values is not adopted.
- Pump speed in “Eco-mode Speed”
- In individual cases, the specified pump speed (Set speed) is not met for a short time during the start-up phase under certain conditions.
- Calculation of limit values while at a standstill
- During standstill (ready to operate), limit values are automatically recalculated and set in accordance with the set monitoring level.
- Operating mode text length
- The text name of the operating mode that is too long is not truncated/abbreviated when an error message (alarm logbook) is Display.
- The text for the help description of error messages E301 and E302 is incorrect.

Bug fixes
- With the function [Simulate Flow As A Unit], communication protocols 1, 4 and 5 set an incorrect status feedback message for the simulated device addresses. As a result, an error message about an invalid or implausible target value for the measurement circuits is displayed on the machine.
- In the case of units of Housing size 62, which have hardware version 2 of the ZSM-61 current measurement board, the error message E017 (ZSM solid-state relay fault) may be output in individual cases, even though the solid-state relay is fault-free. When the solid-state relay is switched off, the current is slightly above the trigger threshold (mA range). The trigger threshold has been adjusted.

Improvements
- Default value of the pump operating mode adjusted for Thermo-6 temperature control units.
Thermo-6 temperature control units are now delivered as standard in “normal operation” and no longer in “Eco-mode Auto”.
Bug fixes
- The remote control bit is not active with communication protocols 1, 4 and 5, even though the remote control has been activated. When the remote control is activated, all values can be read and written via the machine. However, the machine reports an error that the remote control is not activated. Depending on the manufacturer and machine type, this prevents the machine from starting.
- Bluetooth pairing with the e-cockpit app on Android 14 does not work in some cases.
- The Flow-5 temperature monitoring limits cannot be adjusted. Although the [Monitoring Type] parameter is set to “manual,” the limit parameter are greyed out. The limit values can only be changed after ON network has been switched OFF/ON.

- At temperatures below 30 °C (calibration temperature), internal calculation errors can result in incorrect temperature values for the [Temperature CPU ZSM-61] parameter. These implausibly high temperatures occur only occasionally in device data recording (actual values) and have no negative effects on the function of the Thermo-6.
- The monitoring time for edition the error message E041 (initial fill period exceeded) is shorter with the Thermo-6 than with Thermo-5 units.
- After the DHCP lease time has expired, the Thermo-6 unit remains accessible for approx. 500-900 milliseconds under its previous IP address.

- Aftercooling before switching switch off the unit
Each time the unit is switched off (using the I/O, cooling, mould evacuation or remote control buttons), recooling is always carried out, provided that the device has been heating beforehand. The default duration of aftercooling is 60 seconds. Aftercooling reduces the stored energy in the Heating and thus also reduces the temperature rise in the flow before the unit switches off (detailed explanation → causes of malfunction). This cooling time can be set and the function can also be switched off.
Improvements
- Warnings from the frequency converter, such as undervoltage or overvoltage in the intermediate circuit, are output as limit value alerts (status field/spotlight: yellow) with a specific error code. Fault messages from the frequency converter remain marked as system alarms (status field/spotlight: red).
- Detect whether the unit has a “UnitSecret”. If no “UnitSecret” is detected, for example when a USR-61 control board is replaced, the E100 warning message (Digital Twin Secret not available) is issued.
- Network connection between the Interface Server Gate-6 and the Thermo-6 temperature control unit is now always available, regardless of the network configuration setting (automatically or manual).
- The network settings submenu is simplified. Adjustments to the network settings are made immediately after entry, without having to leave the “Network” submenu.
- The entry when the unit is de-energized, for example when the main switch is OFF, is recorded in the historical data under the operating mode.
- The switch to simulation operation for training courses and trade fair exhibitions has been simplified in order to teach and illustrate how the temperature control unit works.
- Optimized data logging for protocols 2 and 9
- The trigger criterion for edition the error message E050 (flow rate zero) has been optimized. The filtered flow value is taken into account when edition the error message; the system reacts less sensitively.
- The regulation ratio (Heating Capacity in percent) is limited to 0% as soon as the flow rate falls below the minimum flow limit of 0.4 l/min.
- The setting range of the [Cooling temperature] and [safety Cooling Temperature ] Parameter Has been adjusted (range from 0... Max. Allowable Device Temperature)
- The duration of Mould evacuation with compressed air (ZG additional) is set to the default value of 240 seconds (previously 45 seconds). The value is automatically set to 240 seconds after a software-update has been carried out, if the value was previously set lower.

Bug fixes
- The averages are not included when exporting operating data.

- Error message E016 (frequency converter error: 12817)
The braking and acceleration time of the pump has been optimized. The new default value for the pump's braking and acceleration time is 2.5 s (previously 1.0 s). This default value is automatically adjusted when there is a software-update. - After activating the [Mould evacuation] function, heating is suppressed.
Bug fixes
- The error message E095 (Update error GIF) was caused due to too number CSV files on the USB drive. During an import process, such as a software-update, the Content of the USB data carrier are checked for existing data. If the data on the data carrier is so numerous, the specified time for the data search was exceeded, which resulted in the edition of error message E095. To prevent this problem, the data search is canceled if there are more than 100 CSV files on the USB drive. This is announced in the corresponding import menu.
- The calculation of the limit value for the temperature difference between return and Main line is incorrect if the difference values are negative. As a result, the calculated value was always lower than the minimum limit value and this was therefore used. With positive difference values, the calculation worked as intended.
- The Gate-6 is output as “BlueZ 5.65" via Bluetooth. In individual cases, starting with version SW61-1_2401, “BlueZ_xxxxxxxxx” was unexpectedly entered for Gate-6 instead of the host name “Gate-6_xxxxxxxx”. This could lead to problems when using the e-cockpit app.

The unit automatically recognizes the electrical power distribution system at the point of use. Depending on the “TN-System (star point is grounded, common in Europe), (1 midpoint between 2 phases is grounded) or High-Leg-Delta(1 phase is grounded)”, the data processing for current and voltage measurement will be carried out differently depending on the grid distribution system. - Monitoring internal voltages of the unit board GIF-61
The internal voltages of the unit board are constantly monitored. If there is a deviation from the reference voltage, the corresponding error messages E311... E314 are issued. - Overview of connected Bluetooth subscribers from the Interface Server Gate-6
The overview of paired Bluetooth subscribers is presented in list form. If there are problems with communication via the serial data interface, the communication logger can be activated by the protocol converter for a more detailed examination (→ Protocol Converter). Gate The logged raw data can be made available to the service point with the analysis data. After a restart (device initialization after mains ON), the communication logger is automatically deactivated again. - Importing Unit Secret using an encrypted file Importing
the encrypted file is used for service purposes. The import is carried out using the 'Import configuration data' parameter (save/load). The Unit Secret is the shared secret of the USR-61 control unit and the digital twin. It must match so that a connection can be established between the unit and the digital twin.

The I/O, cooling and mould evacuation emptying function button must be pressed for approx. ¼ s to carry out the function. This serves as protection to prevent unintentional release in the event of accidental contact. - Display the progress bar and time remaining while running a software update.
- Reset of maintenance intervals simplified
The maintenance interval can now be reset in the “Maintenance Interval Display” standard display. The editing symbol is only visible in the “Maintenance” user profile. By tapping on the edit symbol, the menu level (Service → Maintenance → Reset → Maintenance) is opened and the desired maintenance interval can be reset. - Improved stability of Flow rate measurement.
- Until now, the speed during the filling/air relief phase has been determined as a function of the 'start function' setting. This dependency has been removed and new parameter have been implemented for this process. The speeds are therefore regulated in accordance with their default values, even when the 'pump start-up function' is deactivated.
- When the time zone is adjusted, it is automatically synchronized with the Interface Server Gate-6 and all other Thermo-6 units in the same network network.
- If the 'Pressure pressure relief at shutdown OFF' parameter act switched on, the unit only pressure relief before switch off if a system pressure of more than 0.2 bar is present.
- The problem of a faulty database of historical data has been narrowed down as far as possible so that the occurrence of this problem (error message E079) is reduced to a minimum.

Bug fixes
- The setting of the function ('2nd setpoint') is not saved permanently. When the unit is restarted (device initialization mains ON), the setting is lost.
- After a restart of the interface server Gate-6, communication with Protocol 2 (CAN) is not established again in rare cases.
- The cooling valve 2 is mistakenly always opened in standby mode. This behavior can lead to evaporation in the cooler at temperatures >100 °C.
- The OPC UA server URN (Uniform Resource Name)contains an invalid Spaces that is not compliant.
- When executing the method "SetMachineTime"with EUROMAP 82.1, Release 1.01, the time is accepted, but an error is returned.
- The various available software versions are listed in a network network. Software versions that cannot be installed are mistakenly not shown in grey in the list.

- Protocol 16 for the DIGITAL serial interface (SPI, e.g. Fanuc) for communication between machine control, Interface Server Gate-6 and Thermo-6 temperature control unit.
- Selection and installation of one of the existing software versions in a network network (Gate-6, Thermo-6).
If a unit (Gate-6, Thermo-6) is detected on the network with a different software-version, a message is displayed that the installed software is not compatible with the other connected units in the network. To ensure trouble-free communication in the network, a software-update is required so that all units are operated with the same version. The various software versions available on the network are listed anew, showing the latest version for Colonel. Off the drop-down list, you can select the preferred software-version that should be installed on all units in the network (→Software-update). - safety cut-out via external contact (special function, requires special hardware device design):
Act the function [Safety off via ext. Contact] is activated, the unit can be switched off via the external control and reactivation is blocked as long as the external contact is open. The standard functions of external control (ramp programme ON/OFF, switching between set value 1 and 2) are therefore not available.

- The main line temperature is no displayed on the standard display of the actual value display (“list form” and “indicator graph”) if measuring circuit 1 is deactivated and both the Flow Meter Flow-5 is assigned to the “Integrated” (DFM-51) and “Autonomous” (DFM-52) model of flow meter (e.g. DFM-52 → A1... 8 and DFM-51 → A9... 12).
- In simulation operation, configuration settings are not saved immediately, but only after a waiting time of approximately 1 minute.
- If the ST 1 thermostat cable (cable X51.1) is unplugged, the error message E021 (overtemperature circuit) is output. In one case, it was found that after reconnecting the cable (simulates resetting the thermostat), the error message E088 (Main contactor control KM 1) was also output. The edition of error message E088 is incorrect because the main contactor was always connected and functional.
- If the duration of Mould evacuation with compressed air (additional ZG) is set to a value greater than 120 s and the main switch is switched off and on again, the mould evacuation time is reset to the default value of 45 s.
- The measured value of the [Temperature CPU USR-61] parameter is not written to the unit's internal data carrier. In the recording file (such as His_hb-160z61_2306-... Csv), the entry is shown as unavailable (“N/A”).
- The numeric keyboard for the setpoint input can be opened in the standard display “Actual value display as an indicator graph” by tapping the setpoint pointer () despite the remote control being switched on.
- The QR-Code for the software-update, which provides information about the software-version, contains a faulty link.

- Standby mode
In standby mode, temperature control (no heating and cooling) and process monitoring are switched off. Standby mode can be used to save energy in the event of a production interruption. - Downgrade protection, depending on the hardware version installed. The version of the GIF-61 unit board can be checked under [Service] > [Maintenance] > [Software Information] > [Hardware-version GIF/DMS].
- Hardware version GIF-61 with edition 2130 = 1 → downgrade small software version SW61-1_2238 is not possible.
- Hardware version GIF-61 with edition 2236 = 2 → downgrade small software version SW61-1_2248 is not possible.
- Fuse operating data
With this function, operating data such as operating hours, the number of functions executed, or the number of switching processes of individual valves are written to a USB data carrier. The data is used for general service purposes. - Function to delete a faulty database of historical data.
A faulty database can be deleted manual. It is therefore not necessary to replace the USR-61 control board at the end customer.

- The edition of error message E020 (temperature limit) is different between Thermo-6 and Thermo-5. With Thermo-6 devices, this was more common when using a short flexible tube between Main line and return.
- The cumulation of the refill quantity is not suppressed after a air relief pulse.
Bug fixes
- In simulation operation, the unit configuration is lost after a system restart (main switch off and on again).
- In remote operation with protocol 1, 4 or 5, the [Auto-tuning] parameter is blocked (shown in grey).
- In power distribution systems such as phase-grounded triangular networks (Corner-Grounded-Delta) or single-phase three-wire networks (High-Leg-Delta), releases of the heating thermostats are mistakenly detected by the unit's current measurement.
- The Energy-Control wizard does not accept the parameter Value [setpoint Temperature Difference] if it is less than 0.5 K.
- With the Energy-Control wizard, the pump speed can be set to over 4000 min-1 by adjusting the indicator.

When transmitting data with the OPC UA Ethernet interface (EUROMAP 82.1, Release 1.01) and the ZD interface (protocol 1, 4 and 5), the main line temperature is always transferred to the machine instead of the temperature that is controlled (Main line, Return line or external). - The edition of the error message E050 (flow rate zero) immediately after the pump is started.
The main line temperature can rise above 100 °C due to residual energy from the heating system. If the unit is switched on in this situation, an incorrect state (unit is already full) can be assumed, which immediately leads to error message E050. The filling/venting phase is only skipped (and thus directly activates flow monitoring) if the main line temperature and return line temperature are greater than 100 °C. - The e-cockpit 'Remote Access' and 'Remote Control' functions are not possible.
A Virtual Network Computing (VNC) connection is no longer possible after 10 days of Laufzeit. The password for the VNC connection was no longer valid. - Venting process
The system pressure could not be brought into the control dead band of system pressure due to an existing backpressure in the cooling water outlet or system water outlet. At a temperature of <100 °C, this meant that no further venting was carried out after a certain number of vents and the system pressure remained at the same pressure level as the backpressure. - Display area Help texts
The help text is not displayed in a visible area when called up via a parameter button (hold down). The last three entries in the help system are not displayed correctly.

Withdrawal of the software-version
ATTENTION!
With the software-version SW61-1_2247, no Thermo-6 temperature control units with a Mains voltage of 210 V can be operated. A setting of the frequency converter is changed in such a way that communication with the frequency converter is no longer possible. This software-version can be used at 400 V Mains voltage, but should no longer be installed.

- Connection/operation of external Flow Meter Flow-5 implemented.
The Flow-5 Flow Meter Flow-5 can now be integrated into the Thermo-6 device control system. Measurement values are transferred from the Flow Meter Flow-5 to the Thermo-6 temperature control unit, displayed and monitored. From there, further transmission of the measured values to the machine via Euromap 82.1 and the DIGITAL (ZD) serial interface is possible (detailed description → flow meter connection). - Support for the GIF-61 unit board (hardware-version 2) with edition 2236. This unit board is a
revised hardware-version with regard to the temperature measurement circuit. The new measurement circuit also supports non-insulated thermocouples external sensor.
NOTE!
GIF-61 hardware-version 2 requires at least the SW61-1_2247 device software, in which case the GIF-61 unit board does not allow software downgrade <SW61-1_2247. If a software version does not support the corresponding hardware-version, a corresponding error message appears.
- Functionality of automatically selection an alternative language (DisplayLanguage) if the desired language is not available (Euromap 82.1 Release 1.01).
