The external circuit, which is connected to the unit via the Main line and return lines, should be emptied before opening (e.g. To change the injection mold). The purpose of the [mold emptying] function is to cause as little heat transfer as possible to escape when the external circuit is opened. The efficiency of mould evacuation is essentially determined by the geometry of the connected external circuit (blind holes, parallel connections, different line cross-sections, valves). Mould evacuation is available in 2 different procedure:

  • With pump reversal through emptying (standard)
  • With compressed air by blowing out (additional equipment ZG)

NOTE!

  • Mould evacuation is only carried out if all temperatures (Main line, Return line and, if available, external) are lower than the setting of the parameter [mould evacuation temperature] and [safety cooling temperature]. The default setting is 70 °C.
  • Before opening the hydraulic connections between the temperature control unit and the external heat transfer circuit, the system pressure must be 0 bar ±0.3.

Mould evacuation with pump reversal (standard)

In the standard version (without additional ZG equipment), the pump direction direction is reversed. The heat transfer medium is sucked out of the external circuit by reversing the pump direction. By sucking air from the atmosphere into the heat transfer circuit, it is emptied and depressurised. The water/air mixture is conducted into the cooling water outlet or the system water outlet. The unit then switches off (→ operating principle).

  1. Press the function button on the basic screen
→ The button must be held down for time. ¼ s to carry out the function.

Or

  1. On the basic screen, tap the main menu button
  2. Select [Functions] > [Mould evacuation]
  3. Switch on the function with the slider

Duration of mould evacuation

The [Mould evacuation time] parameter defines how long the [Mould evacuation] function is active before the unit switches off.

  1. On the basic screen, tap the main menu button
  2. Select [Setting] > [Miscellaneous] > [Mould evacuation time]
  3. Set the parameter to the desired value

Output of drain

The heat transfer medium is fed into the cooling water outlet or the system water outlet (depending on whether the common connection has been converted to separate connections, for more information click here).

Mould evacuation with compressed air (additional equipment ZG)

With the ZG additional equipment, the external circuit is drain using compressed air. The heat transfer medium is blown out using connected compressed air and depressurised. The water/air mixture is conducted into the cooling water outlet, system water outlet or into the Compressed air outlet (optionally adjustable). The unit then switches off (→ operating principle).

NOTE!

  • The pump is not in operation during mould evacuation emptying.
  • Efficient mould evacuation is achieved when a sufficiently dimensioned tank container or a pressureless water outlet is connected to the Compressed air outlet (AIR OUT) (the parameter [Mould evacuation with compressed air] must be set to “tank” for this purpose).
  • When emptied into the water drain, the pressure relief may result in water leakage at the Compressed air outlet (AIR OUT), particularly if there is a high backpressure in the water drain.
  • Mould evacuation with compressed air can also be started directly from the “ready to operate” operating mode if all temperatures (Main line, Return line and, if available, external) are lower than the setting of the [mould evacuation temperature] parameter.
  1. Press the function button on the basic screen.
→ The button must be pressed for time. ¼ s to carry out the function.

Or

  1. On the basic screen, tap the main menu button
  2. Select [Functions] > [Mould evacuation]

Duration of mould evacuation

Outlet drain ZG additional equipment only)

The parameter defines the outlet into which the water-air mixture is emptied.

DrainThe water/air mixture is fed into the cooling water outlet or the system water outlet.
TankThe water/air mixture is fed into the Compressed air outlet (AIR OUT).
  1. On the basic screen, tap the main menu button
  2. Select [Setting] > [Miscellaneous] > [Mould evacuation with compressed air]
  3. Set the parameter to the desired value
